An Introduction to the Student Research Committee
The Student Research Committee of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences
The Student Research Committee of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences was established in 1993 to support student research activities. The main body consists of the head, secretary, policy-making council (central council), research council, and two experts. Each faculty has its own research committee, which is located in a separate building and is independent in making decisions but coordinates its affairs with the central committee. The research committee of each faculty has its own director, secretary, and members. The Student Research Committee of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences has one central unit and ten faculty branches.
Vision, Mission, and Goals
This committee is responsible for various activities to empower the students in the fields of research and skills. All activities are based on students' scientific and executive abilities and supervision of different professors. Every year, a call for membership in the research committee is held to attract interested and talented students. The central student research committee attempts to support and provide the appropriate infrastructure for the activities of all faculty branches in line with the goals of the 3rd generation universities. Meanwhile, it tries to organize the student research committees of all faculties to become a learning organization. It is also responsible for policy-making and monitoring goals and functions, and supervising faculty units. Accordingly, the main missions include: supporting students’ research activities and empowering students for conducting efficient scientific research.
The Student Research Committee of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences is formed under the auspices of the National Student Research Committee and works according to the provisions of the statute. The main goals include: creating a suitable platform for the scientific growth and research advancement of students and the training of researchers and future managers of the country, institutionalizing research activities among students, empowering students in the field of research through various methods of theoretical and practical education, promoting the skills and culture of research in university students, supporting scientific activities of students financially, and improving the scientific relationship between the professors and students.
The Scope of the Activities of the Student Research Committee of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences
The main mission is to "educate how to do a research study". The main activities can be summarized as the following:
• Holding research training workshops
• Supporting research projects as the only center where students can implement their research projects
• Collaborate in holding congresses, conferences, and seminars
• Formation, organization, and leading the research units
